Vegas Strip Blackjack is based on the standard blackjack rules. There are, however, slight variations in the rules that will offer a new challenge to fans of other blackjack games while also being a great variant for new players to learn.
The key rules are:
- Vegas Strip is played with 4 regular decks of cards.
- Split aces cannot be used to form blackjack.
- Dealer stands on any 17.
- Dealer peaks on any ten value card or an ace.
- Cards may be split 3 times to make 4 hands (aces only once).
- Insurance is available.
Having 4 decks obviously affects the odds of each hand, as there are four times the number of aces and picture cards available to both the dealer and player.
The peak is a useful aspect of Vegas Strip blackjack too. Knowing whether the dealer has a hand higher than 10 or 11 will allow you to better judge whether to hit or stand, as will the dealer having a six or lower, because this means the dealer will have to hit at least once before standing (unless the player is bust).
Use the hard and soft 17 rule to better position yourself against the dealer. Consider standing on 17+ and let the dealer risk going bust trying to match/surpass it.
Multi hand Vegas Strip Blackjack
This variation of Vegas Strip Blackjack is basically the same game but with the option to play multiple hands at once. Multiple hands have a distinct effect on the odds given each game is played with four decks. Playing up to five hands allows you to better judge the chances of the next picture card by the number already on the table and/or by the dealer peak. Consider this when deciding to hit or stand. Blackjack is a game of chance that focuses on the use of playing cards to form a hand that, when combined, equals 21. When the initial two cards dealt are equal to 21 it is called “blackjack” and is a winning hand - if the dealer does not have blackjack too. If no one has blackjack the game continues and the player is able to “hit” more cards to build a hand closer to scoring 21. If a score exceeds 21 then the player or dealer is “bust” and loses. Failure to do so by being forced to stand (on 17 or more in Vegas Strip Blackjack) or going bust will result in player victory. Matching scores result in a “push” or “tie”, and the player’s original bet on that hand will be returned.
