The World Poker Championship 2004, Dublin
The World Poker Championship in Dublin was a fantastic event and saw the The
Mob back in top form. All four made the top table in their heats. Ross was
seventh, Barny just missed the semi coming third and both Joe and Ram hit
the jackpot, winning their heats for a place in the grand final. In the
final Ram had no luck and was first out, but Joe battled his way to the
heads up. He could well have won it but in the end had to settle for the
100,000 Euro second prize, his biggest ever poker pay day! Well done Joe.
The 4th Annual World Heads Up Championship 2004, Barcelona
Barcelona was great fun, but a disappointment in poker terms. None of us the
Mob got far in the World Heads up although they were proud of the efforts of
the Prima qualifiers (one of whom knocked Joe out in the second round!).
Ross Ram and Barny all made final tables but the trophies eluded them and
they had little more to show for the trip than their suntans.
The World Series of Poker 2004, Las Vegas
Fortunes were mixed in the World Series. Barny made a last table in the pot
limit holdem early in the festival but was an unlucky tenth. Throughout the
festival the boys had lots of close shots and all made money finishes. Barny
came very close a few times, but it was Ram who broke thorough and scored
the big successes. He made an incredible three final tables with his highest
finish being third in the $3,000 No Limit Hold-em.
The Five Star World Poker Classic 2004, Las Vegas
The Five Star World Poker Classic started quietly for us with our first
couple of events being cancelled because of a power cut! The Mob played two
tournaments before the main event, and in the Omaha Ram and Joe made fourth
and fifth. In the Big One Ross put on a fantastic show and took away an
eighteenth place money finish in what was the biggest prize pool of all
time.
The British Open 2004, London
The British Open saw Ross’s long awaited and much deserved first victory of
the tour when the ploughed through the final table for an emphatic win in
the pot limit hi-low Omaha, after Barny had gone out on the bubble. Ram and
Barny both made final tables, Ram was fifth in the Seven Card Stud and Barny
was seventh in the Omaha.
In the main event the boys all started well, but it was deja vu all round
with Barny going out on Aces and Ram taking a strong chip position to day
two only to fall short of the final table. Overall it was a good week,
particularly as The Mob can now claim the British Open Hi-lo championship
along with the rest of their current titles.
The Vienna Spring Poker Festival 2004, Vienna
Ross lead the way in Vienna with another top three finish, coming a strong
third in the Mob’s first event the EU 500 no-limit hold-em. He stepped back
onto the podium again with a seventh place in the pot limit Omaha. It was Ram who came closest in the main event. He started day two as chip
leader and after many ups and downs he just missed the final but managed yet
another money finish.
In the last event; the EU1,000 No limit hold-em Ross and Barny crashed out
just before the final table (both with Aces!) but Joe played tough and hung
in there for his latest final table placing coming eighth.
