Josephine Gordon

Last year, Josephine Gordon was crowned Champion Apprentice, on British Champions Day at Ascot, having sprung to prominence by riding 50 winners over the course of the championship season. Josephine's rapid rise up through the ranks shows no sign of slowing down in 2017. Backed by leading trainers, including the likes of Hugo Palmer, William Haggas, Ed Dunlop, Sir Michael Stoute, Saeed bin Suroor and Michael Bell, it will be sooner rather than later that we see Josephine claim top-level race successes. She has already tasted some high-profile victories, including winning on Wall of Fire at the St Leger meeting and Baydar in valuable handicaps at Sandown and Newbury. An ambitious and driven personality, Josephine is certainly not resting on her laurels and is aiming to break through the 100-winner mark in 2017 and become only the second female jockey to do so. The sky is very much the limit for Gordon and with the powerful Palmer yard behind her, you wouldn’t want to bet against her.
