The eighties were a great time for comedy action films. And while everyone still looks back fondly on Back to the Future and Ghostbusters, for our money Gremlins might just have been the best of the lot.

After all, when was the last time you saw a surburban housewife trap a malevolent gruesome gremlin in a microwave and fry his evil ass? Forget cute little Gizmo – these Mogwai were murder!

Anyway, the classic movie is now a classic slot – and Gremlins has a whole lot going for it. This five reel slot from SG Gaming pays tribute to the film, with visuals directly inspired by famous scenes and sets from the film, and the eponymous stars of the show.

You’ll find Stripe, Gizmo and the gang rattling across the reels, with three Bonus scatters with awarding one of five bonus rounds. Wilds multiply randomly in the base game if they get wet – and continuing the theme, if you get eight wins whilst avoiding the sun, you can unlock persisting wilds.

Honestly, it’s a little disconcerting hearing Stripe’s ferocious growl through your headphones, but the music does a good job of recreating the incidental music from the film.

But there’s definitely some notable novelties here – like the possibility for Wild Symbols to be replaced by BONUS symbols, which can trigger the BONUS selector. If the feature is triggered, the Bonus Selector spin will be awarded.
