Out now: Mining Fever

When we first heard tell of Mining Fever, truth be told we were a mite puzzled. Would slot gamers worldwide really have an appetite for a casino-ised take on the miner’s strike of the 1980s, when Arthur Scargill and Margaret Thatcher played out a high stakes political battle with the very future of the coal industry on the line?

Personally, I think there could be a market for it. But actually, turns out that rather than being a historical document of the strike, Mining Fever is just a diverting new slot following the antics of dwarves and dragons. Go figure.

Luckily, this new release from Rabcat has plenty of charms of its own. With 243 ways to win, this five reel slot looks as slick as you’d expect, coming from a studio who have become renowned for their sharp visuals and showstopping presentation.

There’s a loose story of sorts, too, as a trio of dwarves known as Thundar, Driler and Bombur delve deep into a mine to land themselves some gold – while trying to steer clear of a mean old dragon.

But dragon, schmagon – prospective players are probably keener to learn what sort of features are waiting to be unearthed here. With three dwarves in the slot, there are also three bonuses.

The Dwarven Bonus spins might ring your bell – if two identical scatter symbols arrive on the reels, one of the dwarves will be called into action.

There’s Driler’s Dwarven Drill, where one reel will be covered with wilds, and Bombur’s Dwarven Bomb, where the madcap Bombur throws an exploding wild onto the screen which can produce further wilds, potentially bringing about a winning combo.

And finally there’s Thundar’s Dwarven Hammer, where the little dude swings his mystic mallet onto the reels, awarding a Bonus Spin and also filling two adjacent reels with identical symbols of a random selection.

Then there’s the Dwarven Gold Train. Land a ticket for this particular express by landing three different scatter symbols anywhere on the reels, winning yourself eight Free Spins. While you’re spinning, the three dwarves will attempt to steer a mine cart across the reels, acting as a wild symbol in the process…

Digging for fire or fool’s gold, then? These dwarves might be short on stature, but they’re definitely big on entertainment value…

Mining Fever is released on 31st March 2020 – in the meantime, visit 32Red Casino to check out a wide range of table games and slots to keep you entertained for now!
