The latest series of all-conquering reality TV behemoth I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! begins this coming Sunday. And as ever in 2020, things are slightly different this time around.
With Covid putting the kibosh on filming in Australia, where the television show is usually made, Ant, Dec, and this year’s gaggle of celebs have instead descended on Gwrych Castle in Abergele, North Wales.
Does that mean the show’s famed challenges revolving around chowing down on creepy-crawlies will be absent in this series? The great British viewing public surely wouldn’t stand for that.
We get the feeling that even in the slightly less exotic climate, the production team will find a way to give viewers what they really want to see. That is, grossed-out famous people humiliating themselves in the name of entertainment.
This year’s galaxy of stars includes Shane Ritchie of Eastenders, and Olympic champion Mo Farah. And if Bush Tucker trials are off the menu, the likes of Vernon Kay and Victoria Derbyshire may have more unnerving challenges to overcome; the historical old castle setting is reputed to be haunted.
