Highbrow

This is a colt we have always liked. I was very happy with his comeback run at Newmarket, but I suppose I was a little bit disappointed with him when third at Goodwood last time. He didn’t run badly when chasing home a couple of decent sorts, but I was hoping for a little more, in truth. The step up to 1m4f on quicker ground could well suit, though it does need to in this company. He probably doesn’t have that much to find, though and there is more to come from him.

Now You’re Talking

She was a very smart filly last year, finishing fourth in a Queen Mary here and in the Cheveley Park, and she has been coming along nicely this season. She probably ran close to a career-best when fourth to Sioux Nation at Naas last time, and 6f on quick ground could be her ideal conditions. But this is a very deep and high-class race, and she will need to improve the best part of a stone to be winning this, I would have thought.

Agrotera

This is one of the horses that I have been looking forward to riding all week. I think she could be on a very fair mark. She was having her first run of the season when giving Dathanna a real fright over course and distance on her reappearance – she looked like winning there before just being run out of it late on in soft ground – and she has a very healthy 7lb pull with the winner for a length. And that is in spite of her going on to win at Windsor on fast ground last time. I rode the runner-up, Four White Socks, when she went on to win well at Goodwood next time, and we think a fair bit of her, maybe in terms of a Listed-race filly. I think a mark of 88 underestimates Agrotera, and I expect a bold show.

Plutonian

He will need luck from his draw but hopefully he will break well and get a prominent pitch from three. He did it well from the front for me at Windsor last time from an in-form and progressive horse, and I don’t think you can take too much exception to a 5lb rise. This is a much deeper race, obviously, but I think there is improvement in him.
