It is obvious what a difficult task he has here but there is good prize money down to fifth, so it’s a shrewd bit of placing by John. Obviously, the fact that he was beaten off a mark of 76 in a nursery last time tells you the story but he comes here in good form and wears first-time blinkers, so let’s see what he can do.
We will soon see whether his draw in 32 turns out to be good or bad, but we do know he comes here in top form. He followed up his Chelmsford win when running a blinder for me when second to Flaming Spear at York last time. He went up only 1lb for that and I think the extra furlong could suit and any more rain wouldn’t bother him, either. He wouldn’t want too much, though.
