If you’re a poker fan but you don’t always have the time or inclination to get involved in lengthy, time-consuming tournaments, video poker could be the alternative for you.
So whether you’re dipping your toe into the world of video poker for the first time, or you just want a few pointers on how to get the most out of this particular game, here’s our easy guide to playing Jacks or Better Power Poker!
Played with a standard deck of 52 cards that’s shuffled before each game, with this variation of Poker you play four hands simultaneously. See below for the payout guide:
To start with, press the ‘deal’ button to be dealt a hand – from here, you can decide what cards (if any) you want to keep. The game will automatically hold certain combinations – a pair, for instance – but if you prefer not to hold them, you can override the game’s decision by clicking on the ‘held’ cards.
When you’re ready to play, press the draw button. The cards you hold will be retained in four play hands, with the point of the game to complete each hand with the strongest poker hand possible. The payout on each hand depends on the hand ranking.
With the double feature, you can also increase your payout; select the double button, and select a card at random to try to draw card of a higher value than the dealer’s card. Players can continue trying to double their prize until you either reach the Casino Doubling limit, or you draw a card of lower value than the dealer’s (for instance, he has a 10 and you draw an 8).
Straightforward, right? But Power Poker also offers all the fun of poker without a whole lot of waiting around for some Poindexter to make his play. Give Jacks or Better Power Poker a try today, you could be surprised!
