This looks a winnable maiden hurdle and Icario must have very strong claims. The only time I have ridden him we were brought down at the first, so hopefully we have better luck here. He has since run to a decent level when runner-up on his last three starts, and a reproduction of any of those efforts may be enough to see him finally get his head in front here.

He is slowly getting the hang of things. He was beaten a long way in his first four starts but he ran his best race when stepped up to 3m and handicap company when sixth at Fairyhouse last time, when he was also tried in blinkers for the first time, too. He drops back down to 2m4f here but it will take a lot of getting in this heavy ground, and hopefully he can be competitive off his lowly mark of 96.
