Paddy Brennan: We have aimed her at this prize

2.20pm Aintree

Fanfan Du Seuil

I think you have to say that we are all up against it with Triumph Hurdle winner Pentland Hills, Boodles scorer Band Of Outlaws and Supreme fourth Fakir D’oudairies in here – they set a pretty high standard for the rest of us to aim at – but hopefully Fanfan Du Seuil has place claims. I really liked him when I rode him earlier in the season and I went into Cheltenham expecting a big run, and he certainly performed with a lot of credit when fifth to Band Of Outlaws. I don’t think the race panned out ideally for him either, so I think you can expect to see an improved performance from him here. Clearly, he will need to progress a good deal to beat the market leaders but the rain this week is in his favour and I think he will continue to improve with his racing. He is a very nice prospect.

5.15pm Aintree

Mrs Hyde

This is clearly a big field and very competitive, but I think she is one of the form horses coming into the race. She won really well for us on her debut for the yard at Ludlow and then went on to finish an excellent fourth in the Listed bumper at Cheltenham in November. She probably quite didn’t run up to that level when second at Market Rasen next time, but that could have been a very good race – the winner, and the third and fourth were all unbeaten – and we have aimed her at this prize since. She comes here in great form and hopefully any ease in the ground won’t be a problem. Oscar Rose was only just touched off in this race two years ago, and I would like to think Mrs Hyde has a fair chance of going one better. It’s a very tough race, though.
