Premier League preview: Crystal Palace vs Man Utd

Premier League preview: Crystal Palace vs Man Utd

Crystal Palace are unbeaten in their last four, winning against Liverpool, West Ham and Newcastle in that run. Even if they could only earn a draw against Fulham last time out, Oliver Glasner’s side should be full of beans as they welcome Man United on Monday night.

For their part, United have been plodding along a bit; they could only draw to Burnley in their last league game, a result that left fans booing at Old Trafford. The Red Devils have only won one of their last six matches in the Prem, too; could this be another underwhelming night for Erik ten Hag?

Palace won the reverse fixture 1-0 back in September, and the Eagles have a respectable record at home to United in recent years. They’re unbeaten across United’s last three visits, two draws bookending a win in May 2022, when Wilf Zaha was the sole scorer.

Zaha is long-gone of course, but Palace have plenty of other players who can play a starring role here; Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze of course, but also striker Jean-Philippe Mateta, who has seven goals in his last five home games; Mateta scored braces against West Ham and Newcastle in his two most recent appearances at Selhurst Park.

You have to go back to mid-February for United’s last away win in the Prem – against relegation candidates Luton. With Palace full of confidence it could be worth backing the hosts to nab victory at 5/4. Mateta’s current prolificacy can’t go ignored either; Mateta is 4/1 to find the opener, 5/4 to score at any time.
