Premier League preview: Chelsea vs Everton

Premier League preview: Chelsea vs Everton

While Arsenal and Liverpool look to have gifted Man City a clear run at the Prem title this weekend, Chelsea currently operate in a less competitive realm.

In what’s been a season of remarkable underachievement, the Blues sit ninth in the Prem right now.

But while supporter discontent may be growing after Chelsea were held to a 2-2 draw by Sheffield United last time out, at least Mauricio Pochettino’s side are unbeaten in their last seven matches.

Are Everton capable of halting even that modest success? Sean Dyche’s side did beat Burnley 1-0 last time out; but that was their first league win in their last 14 attempts.

For what it’s worth, Chelsea’s record against Everton is good, with Everton’s only Premier League win at Stamford Bridge coming way back in 1994.

Everton won the reverse fixture 2-0 back in December though. And Dyche could be hopeful of landing a point here; Everton have earned draws on each of their last two visits to the Bridge.

Before the win against the Clarets last week, Everton had held Newcastle to a 1-1 draw at St James’ Park, too. Maybe Dyche can defy the west London side – but whatever the result, it would be no shock to see goals.

Okay, the Toffees aren’t exactly synonymous with goalfests. Even so, they’ve scored in six of their last seven league outings. Chelsea, though – hot damn. Eight of their last nine league games have seen at least four goals scored.

Even at home against Burnley a few weeks back, it ended 2-2. So backing over 3.5 goals at 13/10 looks like a fair shout once again.

Meanwhile, Cole Palmer has scored eight goals in his last five home games, finding the net at least once in each of those matches. The Blues’ standout player is 11/10 to score against Everton.
