Liverpool vs Sheffield Utd

Sheffield United have earned draws in each of their last two matches. If that sounds like cause for optimism, the Blades led in each game with just minutes to go, only to concede late goals.

In any case, even the most upbeat Sheffield United fan won’t expect much from Thursday’s trip to Anfield.

Liverpool are currently in pole position in the Premier League race, and Jurgen Klopp might just spontaneously combust in fury if his side were to drop points against the basement boys.

Mo Salah has scored in each of his last three appearances for Liverpool, but the Egyptian King’s odds reflect that. With Liverpool likely to enjoy plenty of chances, maybe it’s better to take a chance on Luis Diaz to find the net on Thursday.

Diaz equalised against Brighton on Sunday after the Seagulls took the lead. And the Columbian is making a habit of impressing on home turf, scoring in four of his last five appearances at Anfield.

The exception came against Man City – though even in that game, Diaz came close on more than one occasion. Diaz is 5/6 to find the net against the Blades.

If you think Liverpool have a chink in their armour, you could try backing another Diaz to dazzle. In five league games for United, Ben Brereton Diaz has already scored four goals, including two on Saturday. He’s 6/1 to find the net at Anfield.

Chelsea vs Man Utd

Man Utd followed their win against Liverpool in the FA Cup with a pretty fortunate point against Brentford at the weekend; meanwhile, Chelsea might conceivably have ended up losing against relegation strugglers Burnley in their last outing, though the Blues wound up with a draw.

So what happens on Thursday? Chelsea’s record against Man Utd doesn’t make for great reading for the hosts, with the Blues having failed to win any of their last 12 meetings in the Prem. United’s last three visits to Stamford Bridge have ended in draws, however.

With neither team entirely reliable, Cole Palmer could be Chelsea’s saving grace; he scored a brace against Burnley, and has four goals in his last three outings. Palmer is 7/5 to find the net.
