Premier League preview: Sunday’s action including Leeds vs Man Utd

Premier League preview: Sunday’s action including Leeds vs Man Utd

Leeds vs Man Utd

In their first post-Jesse Marsch outing, Leeds put in a fine performance at Old Trafford on Wednesday; the visitors took the lead in the opening minute through Wilfried Gnonto, and went 2-0 up shortly after the restart.

Man Utd got back into the match in the second half with goals from Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho. But Erik ten Hag still reckons the way his side started both halves was “unacceptable”.

So will the Dutch coach see his own side come flying out of the blocks at Elland Road on Sunday? Or can Leeds’ no-manager bounce continue, giving the Yorkshire side a first league win at home since November?

Rather than getting to the bottom of that conundrum, let’s look at something potentially more reliable – the cards market. Last season, this encounter produced nine yellow cards – along with six goals, admittedly, which might have had something to do with the rising temperature on the pitch.

That said, this fixture ended in a goalless draw a year earlier that still produced five yellows; and back in the here and now, each of Leeds’ last seven league games have produced at least four yellows.

The rivalry between these two sides tells us this one should be spicy enough to see five or more, making over 4.5 in the Total Cards market at 10/11 look a pretty good bet.

Man City vs Aston Villa

After a bad week for Man City, the team will presumably come out fighting on Sunday afternoon.

Even leaving aside alleged violations of the Premier League’s financial rules, City also lost to Tottenham last time out – that’s a third defeat in six games!

Pep Guardiola can at least take solace from a reasonably solid record at the Etihad – though they have tasted failure even at home this season, losing to Brentford back in November.

So can Villa riff on Pep’s pain this week? It’s probably best to tamp down any optimistic urge you might be feeling about an upset – after all, Villa did concede four goals against Leicester a week ago.

Still, the Villans have scored in each of the ten games they’ve played since Unai Emery took charge. Both Teams To Score at 11/10 looks like a reasonable punt.
