Jamie Spencer: This looks a fair opportunity for him

2.50pm Yarmouth

Bless Him

Like a few races on the card, this handicap has cut up massively at the overnight stage, which is handy. That said, the others to have stood their ground all look to have fair claims. Bless Him hasn’t scaled the heights of his Britannia win this season but he hasn’t been running badly in decent handicaps and the handicapper has now dropped him 5lb since the start of the season.

3.25pm Yarmouth

Quasar

Jeremy has his horses in good form and this filly looks the part on paper, and presumably on looks as well, having sold for good money. She also has an entry in the Rockfel, so hopefully a big run is in the offing here.

4.00pm Yarmouth

Autumn Splendour

Rated 82, he just sneaks into this 0-80 nursery. He won as he should have done here earlier in the season after a good debut run, and he probably ran into a couple of fair sorts over 5f at Chelmsford last time. The step back up in trip won’t be any problem, and you’d have to expect a decent showing on his handicap debut.

4.35pm Yarmouth

Maverick Officer

He won a small-field race at Haydock in June before finishing in midfield in the Britannia, and then he probably didn’t fully see out the 1m2f trip at Goodwood last time. He is only 2lb higher than when winning at Haydock – and that race worked out really well – so he has an excellent chance if coming back to that form. He probably ideally wants a bigger field and plenty of cover, but this looks a fair opportunity all the same.

5.10pm Yarmouth

Robero

He looks to have been a little disappointing last time out when tried in cheekpieces, but they are off here and at least the handicapper has dropped him another 2lb. He is now back to a winnable mark and, with this race cutting up, he clearly has an obvious chance.

5.40pm Yarmouth

Spinart

He didn’t run up to his best at Kempton earlier in the week but hopefully he can return to the form of his earlier third at Wolverhampton and he does have turf form, too. If he runs his race, hopefully he won’t be far away.
