Jamie Spencer: She is a progressive filly with a good attitude

1.50pm Doncaster

Porcelain Girl

I was on board when she won here in July and when not running so well at Newmarket next time. But she returned to form for me at Leicester last time, and the runner-up ran well in defeat subsequently. A 4lb rise is probably fair enough, though this looks a deeper race, and she is a progressive filly with a good attitude.

3.00pm Doncaster

God Given

She has run three solid races since winning a Group 3 at Haydock, most recently finishing third over an extended 1m4f at Deauville. Her best effort this season has probably been her short-head second to Horseplay in the Lancashire Oaks and she gets a 3lb pull here. It’s a tricky race to call, especially with the likes of Pilaster and Sizzling coming here on an upward curve, but trip and ground will suit my filly, so I don’t think I will be too far away. Hopefully, the course will suit her, too.

3.35pm Doncaster

Triggered

Gimcrack fourth The Irish Rover, and the likes of Aim Power and Kinks further down the weights, are the form horses in here, but at least I am on an improver. He cost a bit as a yearling and he looks to be coming to himself now, beating a good subsequent winner in a Catterick nursery last time. That came off a mark of 80, which clearly leaves him with a fair bit to find, but let’s hope there is more to come from him.

4.40pm Doncaster

Plutonian

He went up 5lb for winning at Windsor and proceeded to run a blinder to finish second in a valuable handicap at the Goodwood meeting. Unsurprisingly, he has gone up another 5lb for that narrow defeat, but he has a lightly-raced profile and you have to give him as good a chance as most in here.

5.10pm Doncaster

Maverick Officer

It was good to see him back winning at Yarmouth last time, as he is a pretty smart handicapper when you catch him right. He got taken out at Thirsk last week due to the soft ground, so drying conditions from now on would definitely suit, and I think can still be competitive here off a 3lb higher mark. He wouldn’t want the ground to ride too testing.
