Josephine Gordon: A mark of 75 looks fair if he can rediscover that early promise

3.25pm Newcastle

Color Force

Her form looks to have tailed off a bit of late, but hopefully a switch of stables can liven her up a bit. I suppose she didn’t run that badly at Yarmouth last time, and maybe a step up to 1m4f on her first run on this surface will help, too. She does need to improve a fair bit to be winning this, though.

3.55pm Newcastle

Bowler Hat

I rode him when he was just touched off over 6f at Nottingham on his debut, and he hasn’t really gone on from there in his subsequent two starts at Kempton. But a mark of 75 looks fair if he can rediscover that early promise and Hugo does have an excellent record at this track, so fingers crossed. Hopefully, first-time cheekpieces will help, too.

4.30pm Newcastle

Conversant

He was a little bit too keen for me at Yarmouth, so hopefully he will settle better here. His form so far is only modest but I don’t think he is without promise and hopefully he can step forward here with the blinkers on for the first time.

5.30pm Newcastle

Dubaitwentytwenty

This is the first time I have sat on her since she finished second for me at Kempton on her debut last year, and she returns to the scene of her course-and-distance maiden win in January. She hasn’t run up to that level in two starts since over 1m2f after a break, but she didn’t run badly at Nottingham last time and hopefully a return to this track and trip can see her competitive off a mark of 65.
