Premier League preview: Sunday’s action including West Ham vs Arsenal

West Ham vs Arsenal

West Ham were obliterated in an assured second half performance from Newcastle last week, the game ending 5-1 in the Magpies’ favour. Can the Irons regroup as they face an Arsenal side that badly need a statement win after last week’s thrilling, frustrating draw against Liverpool?

Man City have a game in hand on Arsenal and trail the north London team by six points. In a couple of weeks, the Gunners head to the Etihad. In the meantime, Mikel Arteta’s side surely cannot afford to drop a point against David Moyes’ mob.

Gabriel Martinelli has seven goals in eight league games for the Gunners, and is 19/10 to find the net on Sunday; that bet becomes more attractive with the knowledge that Martinelli has also scored three goals in four previous starts against the Irons.

Nottingham Forest vs Man Utd

Could Man Utd offer Steve Cooper an unlikely chance to quell some of the pressure surrounding his position? The Forest manager is a fan favourite, but after a nine-match winless streak his position seems to be in jeopardy.

It’s not all bad for the hosts, though. Forest have lost just once at home in their last 11 outings.

That was a last gasp defeat to a determined Newcastle side; but Forest have generally been a tough nut to crack on home turf. Forest have beaten Liverpool, and also held Man City to a draw at the City Ground this season.

Forest also held Wolves to a draw a couple of weeks back, and did the same to Everton last month. And Man United may have a few chinks in their armour. Marcus Rashford is injured, and Erik ten Hag may have been rattled by the way his side allowed Sevilla to get back into their Europa League tie at Old Trafford on Thursday.

United have also lost three of their last four away games in the Prem – admittedly, against strong opposition. Still, Forest have generally been fairly solid at home; maybe an upset of sorts is on the cards here.

Forest or the draw in the Double Chance market is a 57/50 shot.
