Premier League preview: Thursday’s action

Premier League preview: Thursday’s action

Fulham vs Aston Villa

Both these teams have showed a willingness to fight in recent outings. At the weekend, Villa showed plenty of threat but were unlucky to come up against a Chelsea side whose goalkeeper, Kepa, was in outstanding form.

Fulham drew against Bournemouth, and the Cottagers have lost only one game at Craven Cottage this season. This one seems delicately poised, even if Villa coach Steven Gerrard is the overwhelming favourite to part ways with his club soon.

Villa have drawn their last two away games and may look to settle for a point again here; six of their last seven matches have featured two or fewer goals too, and the visitors’ focus will be on restricting their opponent’s chances.

Under 2.5 goals is a 22/25 shot; otherwise, another draw could be on the cards. The stalemate is a 47/20 shot.

Leicester vs Leeds

Leicester’s win over Nottingham Forest was supposed to kickstart their season. But the Foxes have faltered, losing to Bournemouth and unable to find the net in the goalless draw against Palace at the weekend.

Will Leeds current winless run inspire Brendan Rodgers to produce a more exuberant performance on Thursday? The West Yorkshire side haven’t landed a Premier League victory since their 3-0 win over Chelsea back in August, losing four of their last six outings.

Most recently, Jesse Marsch’s side came up short – somehow – against Arsenal. The Gunners weren’t great at Elland Road, but got the job done; Leeds missed one penalty, and were awarded another in stoppage time that was then overturned by VAR.

Are the visitors doomed to another dispiriting night at the King Power? It’s a possibility, but it’s also tough to trust Leicester not to drop a bollock, given their recent showings.

Perhaps backing the hosts’ Patson Daka to score is a reasonable approach, though; Daka has three goals in his last five starts. The Zambian may be able to add to that haul against a Leeds side that have lost their last three away games. Daka is 27/5 to score the opener here.
