Bryan Cooper: He is a very good horse on his day, and a real sweet-traveller when on song

1.40pm Galway

Just Cause

He looks to have a very solid chance. He ran well when second in a Gowran Beginners’ Chase over 2m2f last season and returned to that level of form over fences when runner-up over 2m3f at Limerick recently, and the winner has followed up in good style since. He steps up in trip again here, but he is a point winner who does have lots of 2m6f form over hurdles, so it should be fine.

He is a very good horse on his day, and is a real sweet-traveller when on song. He won really well for me at Navan last season and he was successful on the level before finishing in midfield here, not getting the clearest of runs, in a 2m1f Flat handicap earlier this week.  Ideally, he may want a longer trip and softer ground, but he finished a good second over 2m at Aintree last year, and I think a strongly-run 2m race around Galway in ground with a bit of ease in it – they go very quick here and a some rain is forecast – could just suit him. He returns to hurdles on a fair mark, and we know he is fit.
