Dortmund vs Newcastle

Dortmund lost Der Klassiker this weekend, Bayern Munich winning 4-0 at Signal Iduna Park as Harry Kane completed his third hat-trick of the season.

Is that good or bad news for Newcastle? The defeat is Dortmund’s first of the season in the Bundesliga, and coach Edin Terzic already masterminded an away win over Newcastle a few weeks back.

Eddie Howe may be hopeful of striking back on Tuesday night – but after their drubbing by Bayern at the weekend, the hosts may be in no mood to oblige the visitors.

The Magpies warmed up for this with a narrow win over Arsenal on Saturday, and Howe’s side are generally in decent nick. But Dortmund have a formidable record at home in the Champions League group stage, losing just one of their last 16 home games.

We’d lean towards Dortmund to win at home, then, and a Dortmund victory is a 31/20 shot. Maybe backing under 2.5 goals at 11/10 is a viable alternative though; that bet would have paid off in each of Dortmund’s CL games in this campaign.

Newcastle romped to a 4-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain, but have failed to find the net in their other two group stage encounters. This one could be another tight affair.

Man City vs Young Boys

A Swiss miss? City won the reverse fixture 3-1, and Pep Guardiola’s side limbered up for this one with a 6-1 victory against Bournemouth this weekend. It’s not looking good for the visitors…

Victory for the reigning champions on Tuesday will guarantee City’s progress to the knockout stage, too, and it’s tough to see any other outcome. Even if the hosts take it relatively easy, even if Guardiola opts to rest Haaland, it’s likely that there will be a few goals here. Over 3.5 goals is a 10/11 shot. Otherwise, Julian Alvarez is 17/20 to score at any time; he found the net twice against Red Star Belgrade at the Etihad back in September.
