I rode her when she won over course and distance last June, so hopefully we can repeat the feat here. That win came on soft ground but she is equally effective on a faster surface. She has been running well of late and remains on a fair mark, so there are reasons to be hopeful, for all this is a competitive little handicap.
She has been beaten a long way on her two starts to date and she clearly has a lot to find to take a hand here. But she probably ran better than it appeared over 1m4f last time and the step down to 1m2f will hopefully suit this well-bred filly a lot better.
She has been running really well, and wasn’t beaten far in a Listed race at Nottingham last time, but official ratings tell you she has a very hard task at these weights.
I have ridden him at home and he is a nice sort and a well-bred one, too, but we have been feeling our way slowly with our juveniles this season and everyone knows that Hugo likes his debutants to enjoy their first day and school, and improve for it. I think he will need further in time.
