Jamie Spencer: Hopefully my filly’s pedigree can translate to a good opening performance

Blind Faith

She clearly didn’t give her true running when soundly beaten on her return, and unfortunately the handicapper looks to have ignored it too, leaving her on the same mark.  If she returns to the form of her Chelmsford runs, or her Sandown second, of last season then this half-sister to Gabrial has claims, though obviously she has something to prove after that Yarmouth run. I’ve seen stronger handicaps, mind you.

Quivery

I don’t know anything about her to be honest and Jeremy’s 2yos are just starting to get going – he had one placed at Newmarket last weekend, and I think that was only the third juvenile he has run – and we probably are all up against it with expensive Dubawi newcomer Arabian Gift in here. But my filly cost $360,000 herself and has a very well-connected American pedigree, so hopefully that breeding can translate to a good opening performance here.

Chief Craftsman

Only seven runners but this 1m4f maiden looks pretty competitive to me. But my colt has run two very promising races in 1m2f Nottingham maidens this season, most recently when second to Okool last month. He is a Mastercraftsman half-brother to a 1m6f winner, so hopefully the extra 2f shouldn’t be a problem. But, as I said, there are at least a couple of others in here with a similar profile and level of form, so you can’t be confident.
