We thought a lot of him as a juvenile, when he ran two good races before winning his maiden at Newmarket, but things just didn’t work out for him in his first two starts this season. He didn’t run badly in the Greenham first time up but he was very disappointing at Newmarket last month. But he was dropped 2lb for that run and he has been gelded since, so if that works and he returns to his best then he is not out of this. He has a lot to prove though, obviously.
This is a beautifully-bred Frankel colt and I’m really looking forward to riding him here. If he gets in! I haven’t ridden him before but he has an improving, lightly-raced profile and hopefully the step up in trip will suit him. In winning his maiden over 1m2f at Chelmsford and in finishing third over the same distance at Haydock last time, he certainly shaped as if it was well worth a try. He has gone up 2lb for that third in a five-runner race but it looked quite a strong handicap.
