Josephine Gordon: You have to give him a solid each-way chance
This is the first time I have sat on him, but he looks to have plenty going for him. The application of cheek pieces seem to have sparked him back into life, and after a series of good efforts he went one better when scoring at Newmarket last time. He went up 2lb for that narrow win, which also came in soft ground, and that looks even fairer in the light of the runner-up winning next time out. It’s obviously a competitive race but he goes in there with as good a chance as any, I think.
He is one of the higher-rated horse in here, and has form on soft ground, so you have to give him a solid each-way chance in what is clearly a hugely competitive 22-runner sales race. I thought he did really well to finish fourth to Tangled and Great Prospector at York last time considering he was a bit detached on the far side, and this 6f111yd trip could be ideal for him on the evidence of his soft-ground third over 7f at Ascot on his penultimate start. I just hope his draw in two doesn’t prove to be a negative, though, because I actually think he has a right chance.
