He looks to have shown ability in his only start in France but things obviously didn’t go to plan at Southwell last month. I assume they think he is better than he showed that day, so let’s hope we can see big improvement here. But, as it stands, I don’t know a lot about him, to be honest.
Stick To The Plan
He won at Perth in good ground last April but hopefully these softer conditions should be fine for him. He ran well when fifth in a Pertemps qualifier at Cheltenham in October and has not been seen since a second at Market Rasen in December. The winner won easily that day but he has gone on to show himself a fair horse since. If he is fresh and well from his break, then hopefully he will give me a good spin round.
I would have fancied him to run a big race in the Grand Annual on Friday but he missed the cut by one there. His recent good efforts have come since he has been dropped down to the minimum trip, and he obviously would have run over that trip at Cheltenham, but he clearly stays this trip well and I think there is still improvement to come from this 7yo.
De Name Evades Me
He hasn’t been with us that long. He joined us after having a lot of experience in points, winning one and being placed in the others. It looks like he handled soft ground well there, and he has shown us plenty of ability. He’s a nice horse, all right, but this run will tell us more.
Soldier Of Love
He is a half-brother to Mercy Mercy Me, who finished eighth for us in the Bumper this week, and he showed a lot of ability when a close second in an Ascot bumper for Mark Pitman in November. He has really pleased us since he has been here, and I can him see running another decent race, for all this looks a strong contest.
