Premier League preview: Fulham vs Chelsea

Premier League preview: Fulham vs Chelsea

Last season Fulham won this fixture 2-1; can Marco Silva heap further frustration on Blues fans at the Cottage in Monday’s west London derby?

Neither of these sides are exactly scoring for fun at the moment, but Fulham have at least given reasonable accounts of themselves in recent outings. They held Crystal Palace to a goalless draw last time out, beat Luton 1-0, and have also held both Arsenal and Tottenham (in the League Cup) to draws.

Chelsea haven’t been able to find the net in their last three league games. They did beat Brighton in the League Cup last week; but Mauricio Pochettino’s efforts to impose order on the chaos sown by Todd Boehly aren’t exactly wowing supporters so far.

Actually, maybe that’s not completely fair, with some talk that Chelsea have actually looked decent in spells in recent games. But the end product just doesn’t seem to be there for now.

And not too keep harping on about it, Pochettino is without a win in his last 14 away games in the Prem. With Chelsea seemingly as beatable as ever, backing the hosts to win at 27/10 is hardly going out on a limb.

Perhaps playing it safe is a better option, though. As we’ve said, neither side are exactly delivering goal after goal; backing Both Teams To Score NO at 23/25 might be a good approach. That bet paid off in Chelsea’s last four league games – and four of the six league games Fulham have played this season.

Looking for something with a bit more oomph? You could back Willian to come back and haunt his former club. The Brazilian scored against Chelsea in this fixture last season, and is 6/1 to score at any time here…
