After a painful 5-1 defeat to Newcastle last time, can Unai Emery’s side seize the initiative against an Everton side that don’t tend to travel well?
Villa didn’t just suffer a gubbing a week ago; they also saw Tyrone Mings sustain an injury that looks set to end his season. It’s a bleak, bleak start for the Villans, but even with those setbacks the hosts are surely capable of picking up a win against Sean Dyche’s team.
Villa have won six of the last eight league encounters between these two sides. Everton managed two away wins all last season and most onlookers seem to think the side will face another relegation fight in this campaign.
Last week the Toffees produced 15 shots, nine on target, yet still couldn’t find the net at Goodison against a Fulham side that ended up nicking the win.
The hosts will probably get the job done here without producing a blockbuster scoreline. So Villa to win and under 3.5 goals in a double at 5/4 looks a decent option.
West Ham vs Chelsea
As relentless as Chelsea have been in the transfer market, amortising their way to theoretical glory, the side still have a shabby record in terms of, you know, winning football games.
How shabby? Well, they’ve won just five league games in 30 attempts. And if new boss Mauricio Pochettino is thinking a visit to the London Stadium could be good for what ails his side, well, it’s hardly a sure thing. Since 2017, Chelsea have won just one away game against the Irons.
Poch may well be able to get a tune out of this team eventually, but instant success in this East vs West London derby could be a different matter. Is another disappointing day in store for Chelsea? It’s a real possibility. Take a chance on West Ham draw no bet at 29/20.
