He won a couple of 3m handicap chases on soft ground when trained by Tom Lacey last season and he made a pleasing debut for us when second at Ascot last month. The winner ran well in defeat at that track at the weekend so, off the same mark here, I think he should be pretty competitive, and this track should suit.

I haven’t ridden him before but he was consistently good last season, winning a couple, but he hasn’t reached those heights in two runs this season. But he has at least dropped 5lb in the handicap, so he is weighted to go well if he can rediscover his zest from last season.
