It’s offical: Daniel Dubois fights Joe Joyce at London’s O2 Arena on the 11th of April! We grabbed a quick chat with Daniel as he looks forward to the fight:
This one is exciting and I can’t wait to get started now. People have been talking about me as a prospect for a couple of years now but after this one I think they will have to start talking about me as a contender.
I’m just looking forward to getting stuck into training. We’ve already got a training plan laid out and some good quality sparring lined up and I’m ready to go. For all the latest fight odds, visit our sportsbook.
I’ve sparred Joe in the past. I was a young man and it was a long time ago. We’ve both developed a lot since then. In those days we were amateurs and now we’re professionals and there’s a big difference. Joe has a unique sort of style and he does a lot of messing about in the ring but I’m not worried about that at all. I just can’t wait to take his head off.
My fight with Nathan Gorman was big news within the boxing industry and it got a lot of attention from boxing people but this fight is going to be bigger and it will appeal to general sports fans as well as boxing fans. It’s gonna be good. Beating Joe will raise my profile even more and I’m looking forward to showing people exactly what I’m capable of.
I can imagine Joe’s manager, Sam Jones, will do plenty of talking in the build up but I think people are starting to get to know me now and realise that any talk outside the ring doesn’t have the slightest effect on me. I much prefer to do my talking in the ring and will do on April 11th.
We have a really good group of exciting fighters down at The Peacock Gym at the moment. It makes me proud that fighters like Denzel Bentley, Chris Bourke and James Branch are getting the opportunity to fight on these big cards alongside me. It’s an exciting time for us all. You could say they’re standing on the shoulders of a giant.
