Premier League preview: Brentford vs Man City

Premier League preview: Brentford vs Man City

With two games in hand over Liverpool and Arsenal, Man City are lurking ominously in the Prem.

Few would expect City to slip up as they head to the Gtech Stadium on Monday night – but could Brentford possibly leave Pep Guardiola’s side bamboozled?

It wouldn’t be the first time. Unlikely as it sounds, the Bees beat City home and away in the Prem last season.

Thomas Frank’s side haven’t been at their sharpest in this current campaign, partly because of Ivan Toney’s absence. The talismanic striker is back now of course, and has already scored twice for Brentford since his return – but even Toney’s excellence may not be enough to prevent City from collecting three points.

City have won five of their last six league games, and lost just one of their 13 league games. In stark contrast it’s just two wins from Brentford’s last 10 in the Prem, with the other eight games in that run all ending in defeat.

Perhaps it’s best to look to City’s key players. Kevin De Bruyne has provided assists in his last two matches, and is 8/5 to do so again here. Erling Haland is also likely to start, but the traders make him a shorter price to find the net than to not score.

Maybe it’s better to take a chance on Toney making his mark, even the Brentford striker can’t inspire his side to victory this time. Toney is 41/20 to get on the scoresheet.
