Premier League preview: Sunday’s action including Aston Villa vs Man Utd

West Ham vs Arsenal

As West Ham shape up to take on the Gunners, good news for the Hammers. David Moyes’ side has already seen off this team, beating them 2-0 at the Emirates in late December.

The less good news is that result was the last time the Irons won a game. They’ve played six time since then, and were particularly underwhelming last time out against Man Utd as the Red Devils won 3-0.

It sounds like a decent opportunity for Arsenal to take some revenge then. And the Gunners are in good nick, having won their last three league games – most recently, beating Liverpool 3-1.

Arsenal are heavily fancied to win, though the odds reflect that. Perhaps backing Gabriel Martinelli to net for the Gunners is the way to go; the Brazilian has three goals in his last three league games, and is 47/20 to find the net.

Aston Villa vs Man Utd

For much of the season Aston Villa have been rightfully praised, as Man United have been pilloried for underwhelming performances.

Yet Erik ten Hag’s side head to Villa Park unbeaten in their last five matches in all comps; meanwhile, Villa, so impressive at home all season, have suddenly stumbled, losing each of their last two games 3-1 at Villa Park, to Chelsea and Newcastle.

Is this reversal in fortunes the new normal, or simply a pesky glitch that Unai Emery’s side will look to correct against United on Sunday?

It’s possible that Villa’s gameplan has been figured out by other managers now. Even if that’s not the full story though, United seem to be in a good place.

The Manchester side have certainly seen plenty of false dawns over the last decade, so caution is advised – still, they are 21/10 to win against a side that have suddenly become a mite flaky.

If you can’t quite trust United, fair enough. But maybe backing Rasmus Hojlund is a decent compromise. The young Dane has five goals in six games for Man Utd, and is 41/20 to find the net on Sunday.
