He has picked up a 3lb penalty for his recent Group 3 win for me at Newcastle and comes here on the back of a below-par effort on unsuitable ground in the Hackwood Stakes at Newbury last time. So it’s a tough ask for him. But that wasn’t his first bad run in soft ground, and the better conditions here will definitely suit. Even with his penalty he is right up there on official ratings and I’d like to think he could surprise here, even against horses with proven Group 1 ability.
